Reggie Bush is in the news yet AGAIN! As if the New Orleans Saints running back's legal woes regarding the USC booster allegations weren't enough now the pot is being stirred over his February cover for Essence Magazine. Essence, a fashion and lifestyle magazine for young women (predominately young Black women) has been receiving quite the flack for asking Bush to grace the cover of its upcoming issue. The issue entitled "Black Men, Love & Relationships" has many up in arms over a cover model who infamously dates and was even engaged to the equally notorious non Black reality TV star/socialite, Kim Kardashian (Kardashian is Armenian.)
The big hoopla is not just about Reggie's choice in boos but the fact that the magazine is dedicated to Black women and in the past has published feature stories celebrating Black on Black love between Black men and women.
One reader on the Essence.com message board had this to say about Reggie's Essence cover debut:
“This Brotha don’t dig us, so why, pray tell, do we have to see his face staring back at us, on a magazine that celebrates US? This disappoints me. It’s an insult! Later for Reggie Bush and all the other Brothas who turn their back on the black woman once they are successful.”
Such hostility! Poor Reggie! Being reduced to a sideline Saints cheerleader with a low personal record, a failed arbitration ruling and pending lawsuit and now this. What he won't do ... 'For The Love of Kim K.'
